Hey Mr. Bones! grew out of one simple truth: nurses have so much to say. After 28 years in this wild, beautiful profession (I know—28 years, yikes!), we have seen the good, the bad, and the truly ah-mazing. Nurses are there for the first breath, the last breath, and every raw, real moment in between. We show up for people on the best day of their lives and the very worst. We care deeply—loudly, quietly, fiercely—and yes, sometimes we absolutely wear our emotions on our sleeves. But let’s be honest… nurses also have a wonderfully weird, occasionally dark sense of humor. And that’s what we want to bottle up and put out there. But we’re more than what happens inside the hospital walls. Nurses are whole humans with big, vibrant lives. We climb mountains (literally and figuratively), run races, golf, chase toddlers, cook meals that may or may not set off the smoke alarm, travel, create, volunteer, dance, lift, garden, read, laugh, and keep building lives full of joy, grit, and adventure. We aren’t just caregivers at work—we are artists, athletes, parents, wanderers, makers, and do-ers of a thousand little things that make life meaningful. Being a nurse shapes us, but it doesn’t define every corner of who we are.And we think that deserves celebrating, too. Hey Mr. Bones! was created to push boundaries, spark conversations, and celebrate the humor, heart, and grit that make nurses who we are. We’re here to challenge outdated ideas—like the myth that nurses “eat their young” or that we’re just standing on the sidelines. No way. Nurses are in the thick of it, shaping lives and shaping policy. We’re fighting for healthcare, for equity, for mental health, and for real change that actually matters. And because community is everything, a portion of our proceeds goes right back into supporting nurses.
